Tears dried up on her face

Never again to resurface

She had wiped them with a sackcloth

Burnt them all and off the ashes went

She said the words into thin air

Promised she would never do it again

And she never did

All the pain had vanished

And tears had tone the ablutions

And now, she’s free

No more late night reminiscing

Or even mid night sleeplessness

Never again would she worry

Or answer to anyone but herself.

It came with a big price

But that she already paid

And so another chapter of her life began

With all that was in her

She swore it

No one but her would ever matter to her
